8:45 AM MDT
Meeting
called to order at
8:45 AM
, MDT.
Present: Karen Baum, Jack
Moore, Art Kennel, Sally Rucker, Sally Taylor and Jan Wassink, Registrar.
Motion:
Karen Baum. Approve the
minutes of the
May 22, 2003
meeting as
corrected. Second:
Jack Moore. 5 Ayes.
- Staff
Evaluation:
There was discussion of evaluation of the ILR office staff.
There was consensus that the staff is very attentive to
registrants’ needs. Several
members of the BOD have received positive comments about the service they
receive from the ILR staff.
- Hearing:
To accommodate a request received from Terry Price to reschedule the
hearing of a complaint against an ILR member, the BOD met by teleconference
call with ILR attorney, Tim Goddard and Terry Price.
The date for the hearing was rescheduled for
July 9, 2003
, at
10:00 AM
, EDT.
- Registrar’s
Public Involvement:
Jack suggests that Jan plan to offer to attend two to three
conferences each year as a speaker to promote ILR as our budget permits.
The
BOD joined the ILR staff for a lunch. Following our lunch break there was an
informal meeting with the board and staff brainstorming about ways to maximize
positive contact and service for members.
- FTA
Update:
Jan led a discussion of the FTA sampling for DNA and freezer storage
of blood samples at UC Davis.
- Registration
Special:
The office has received a large number of registration applications
for animals over one year old. Under
the conditions of this special offer, all llamas can be registered for
$10.00 provided they are offspring of two registered parents.
All transfers will also be $10.00.
Motion: Sally Rucker.
Extend the $10.00 fee for registrations and transfers until
October 31, 2003
.
Second: Karen Baum.
5 Ayes.
- OSU
Request:
Ohio
State
requested ILR waive
transfer fees for their research herd. The
decision of the BOD was to deny the request on the grounds that the goal for
ILR is to make every function self-supporting and waiving fees is not
consistent with this policy.
- Membership
Drive:
Karen suggests we do a mailing to llama owners that have not
conducted business with ILR in the 3-5 years prior to 2000 to remind them of
the benefits of ILR membership and ask if they are interested in joining ILR
and receiving the ILReport. Karen,
Jan and Art will assume the function of a Membership Committee to develop
materials for a membership drive.
