ILR Board of Directors Conference
September 17, 2003

The ILR Board of Directors teleconference meeting was called to order at 12:04 AM , EDT, by President, Jack Moore.  Present:   Karen Baum, Art Kennel, Jack Moore, Sally Rucker, Sally Taylor and Jan Wassink, Registrar.

Motion:  Sally Rucker.  Approve minutes of August 20, 2003 .  Second:  Jack Moore. 4 Ayes.

The next teleconference meeting will be October 22, 2003 at 12 Noon EST.

Registrar’s Report:

  1. Financial:  Karen Baum presented the financial report for the year-to-date and past month.
  2. Software:  Rob Schrull will be consulting with Marshall and will report back to Jan about the progress of the software development in process.

Committee Reports:

  1. Bylaws, Policies and Petitions:  Jan will forward the edited version of the screening forms to the members of the BOD for their comments.  The new screening forms will then be sent to several ILR members for their input before the forms are implemented.
  1. Membership:  There was discussion about sending the IlReport to some of the past llama owners who have not joined ILR.  The hope is that some of the former members might choose to join ILR in order to receive the ILReport and have access to the ILR Web-Site and other advantages of membership even if they do not breed llamas any longer.
  1. Strategic Planning:  Art Kennel.  A current copy of the Strategic Planning Report will be sent to the BOD.  Each member will communicate with Art regarding any changes.  The objective is to print the Strategic Plan in the next ILReport.
  1. ILReport:  Jack Moore gave the BOD the description of articles scheduled for the next ILReport.
  2. Informational Brochures:  Bill Franklin has submitted the draft for the updated version of “Llama Facts for New Owners”.  This draft will be reviewed and will be available on-line soon.
  1. Membership:  There will be an application for regular membership and associate membership in the next ILReport.  The offering of an associate membership will be extended to people interested in llamas but who do not actually own llamas.  This associate membership will cost $20/yr and will grant the member access to database and to receive the ILReport.
  1. Use and Enjoyment:  Jack Moore mentioned a couple of articles planned for the next ILReport on the use and enjoyment of llamas.
  1. Contact With Other Associations:  Art Kennel reported on a letter he received from Sheila Fugina, President of LANA, inviting ILR to hold its Annual Meeting at their LANA Expo in Quincy , CA in 2005.  Motion:  Sally Rucker:  We tentatively schedule our annual meeting to be held at the time of the LANA Expo in 2005.  Second:  Art Kennel.  5 Ayes.
  1. Enforcement:  Sally Rucker will contact the ILR attorney make certain the protocol we have in place is being implemented to its full potential in enforcing the ILR rules and policies.
  1. Sub-Registries:  There was discussion on the formation of Sub-registries within ILR and the roll that DNA will play in the future of integrity of our Registry.  The BOD will take a pro-active role on this issue.

Jack has a petition that was given to him at the Midwest Challenge in Indianapolis , IN last weekend.  He will send a copy to each member of the BOD for discussion at our next meeting.
