ILR BOARD MINUTES

September 11, 2007
8:00 pm, EST

The ILR Board of Directors teleconference meeting was called to order by President, Karen Baum, at 8:07 PM, EST. Present Kathi McKinney, Mark Smith, Sally Taylor and Jan Wassink, Registrar.

The next teleconference meeting will be October 16, 2007 at 8:00 PM, EDT.

Kathi McKinney, motion: Approve minutes of August 21 meeting. Second: Mark Smith. 3 Ayes.

The ILR show module program was tested at the Oregon State Fair by ILR members who volunteered to try it out. Further testing will be done to improve the program to make it easy for show entrants to use. The members who tested the module were excited about the prospects of the application of the show module.

The Registry Manager program is progressing very well. Allen is spending more time with the Registry Manager now that he has finished working with the DNA processing reports to owners.

The financials were not available because the teleconference call was a week early this month.

Kathi gave some more details on the 2009 Lamaribbean Cruise. A flyer will be prepared for the annual meeting and announced in the ILR-eport to begin to generate interest and excitement.

SLA paid their past due account but have refused to pay the interest. The Board of Directors felt pursuing the collection of interest and late fees was a waste of ILR staff and office time given the past dealings with the SLA.

The Board discussed the formation of a Marketing Committee. Volunteers to join this effort are being actively sought by ILR. Anyone interested should contact the ILR office to lend support to this effort.

The agenda for the annual meeting in Lincoln, NE, Thursday, October 25, 2007, was discussed.

Mark reported on the progress of FFA to be held in October of 2007.

Jan asked the Board to consider fazing in a requirement to submit a fiber sample for DNA storage with each registration. There would be no additional cost to owners since the sample is easy for an owner to collect because no veterinary service is required. The fiber sample could be stored indefinitely in case a DNA sample is ever required.

Jan proposed offering a free “Llamas for Sale” ad with each ranch or individual membership in ILR.

Meeting adjourned 10:00 PM, EDT.

Respectfully submitted,
Sally Taylor
Secretary
