ILR BOARD MINUTES

July 21, 1999

Present: Barbara Carlomagno, Sally German-Rucker, Kathi McKinney, Jack Moore, Sally Taylor and Jan Wassink (Registrar).

The meeting was called to order at 12:00pm EDT

The next meeting was scheduled for September, 15, 1999 at 12:00 EDT

1. Election of Officers
    Kathi motioned to retain the present officers: Barbara - president, Jack - vice-president, Kathi - treasurer, Sally - secretary. Sally R. seconded. 5 ayes

2. Minutes
    Sally T. motioned to accept the June 24th minutes with corrections. Kathi seconded. 5 ayes.

3. Registrar's Report

4. British Registry
    We received more communication from the British Registry seeking guidance on the formation of their Registry. jan responded with information. No official action required.

5. Certificates of Deposit
    Sally R. made a motion that we authorize Jan to open four (4) $30,000 SDIC guaranteed Certificates of Deposit (CD's) with DA Davidson Investment Company at the best available rate and that the ILR President, ILR Treasurer, and ILR Registrar be the authorized signatories. Two out of the three signatures will be necessary to conduct business. Sally r. seconded. 5 ayes.

6. Country of Origin on Certificates
    Kathi motioned to authorize Jan to make the appropriate modifications to the computer program to allow the verified country of origin or screening to be printed on the certificates. Barbara seconded. 5 ayes. (This change was made in response to a query posed by Nina Pederson. Jan will call and appraise her of our positive response.)

7. Mailing List
    Kathi motioned to make the mailing list available to llama associated businesses in any form they request. The cost will be $.10 per name with additional charges for sorting, materials, and shipping. Jack seconded. 5 aye.

8. ILR Registered Herd Logo
    We are in the final stages of developing a logo for members to use to designate that their entire herd is registered.

9. Minor Children
    Kathi moved that the Registry allow children up to the age of 18, with their own owner codes, to use their parents' studs (without DNA testing as required for outside breedings) and their parents' breeder identifiers. Jack seconded. 5 aye.

10. Digital Photographs
    There will be a $5.00 per animal charge if members do not put a backing on digital photographs printed on regular weight paper which will make them comparable to photographic paper. This is crucial for proper storage of the photographs.

Sally Taylor left the call at 2:15 EDT.

11. Mission Statement
    Sally R. moved that the following mission statement be adopted.

"A Mission Statement can help an organization define its business, articulate its vision, guide its operation." Webster's 9th Collegiate Dictionary, 1983

The Mission Statement of the International Lama Registry is

  1. To gather, catalog, and maintain accurate records based on verifiable animal genealogy, color, individual identification, country of origin, and medical and breeding histories.
  2.     To promote the value of registered lamas through education and services.
  3.     To make gathered data available to members and researchers in an orderly, efficient, and economical fashion.
  4.     To provide other related member services in response to member needs.

Kathi seconded. 4 aye. The final version of the ILR Mission Statement was prepared by Jack Moore.

12. Another meeting was called for July 28, 1999 at 12:00 EDT in order to complete the agenda with all five (5) BOD members present.
