ILR BOARD MINUTES
June 11, 1999
12:00 EDT
Face-to-Face Meeting
Hampton Inn, Kalispell, MT
Meeting called to order at 9:10 A.M. MDT
Present: Kathi McKinney, Karen Baum, Jack Moore, Sally Taylor, Sally Rucker, Barbara
Carlomango and Jan Wassink
- Review policy on non-breeder status
The non-breeder classification was originally established to address the requests of
breeders concerned about selling uncastrated young males as non-breeding animals and
finding the animal was later used for breeding or for animals that have been judged to be
unfit to be in the North American gene pool. The owner who designates the classification
non-breeder is the only person who can request the reversal of the non-breeder status. Fee
to re-issue certificate to designate non-breeder status is $5.00. Fee to remove
non-breeder status is $50.00.
- Gelding/Spayed female registration fee
Fee to register a gelding or spayed female of any age is $10.00. If the animal has two
registered parents it will be designated a registered llama. Any animal without two
registered parents will be designated "listed". Offspring from animals
designated gelded or spayed are not eligible for registration.
- Employment Contract for Jan
Jans contract has been signed and is on file.
- Employment Contract for Alan
Discussion of a five year contract for Alan Schmautz. Jan will work on contract details
and report to the BOD.
- Employment of Sandy Heuscher and Carol Martin
Sandy and Carol are now acting as area managers for their respective work groups. Motion:
Jack Moore to give Carol and Sandy a modest raise. Second Sally Rucker 5 ayes
- Employee wage and benefits/Sick leave policy
Jan proposes to make vacation/sick/personal leave start at 5 days per year after one
years employment and to add one day per year. MOTION: Sally Rucker: Make
vacation/sick/personal leave start at 5 days per year after one years employment and
to add one day per year after that. This policy would be effective immediately. Second
Karen Baum 5 ayes
- Advanced Reproductive Technologies
Discussion that rules as they stand today are cumbersome and unworkable. At this time the
AI technology has not been developed to a point of being practical. AI policies will be
readdressed when and if this technology becomes possible. If cloning becomes a reality it
will be addressed when necessary. ET: Limit of 5 babies per female per year with no more
than two full siblings per female per year. Current rules cover the DNA parent
verification. We are waiting until July to receive the report of the AI/ET Committee and
make final decisions on this topic.
- Fees for returned certificates
Jan explained the cost involved in returning cancelled certificates. It costs about $1
each to return the certificates. This is a service we want to provide the members but at
some point in the future we might have to readdress this issue and charge for the returned
certificates.
- Closure
Discussion regarding the issue of closure. Technically the Registry is closed and the only
issue to address is whether or not to screen animals. No action is taken at this time.
- Color/Coat Patterns
It has been requested that we expand the color and pattern descriptions for the
certificate. Sally Rucker has spent considerable time and effort on this project during
the past year. She presented us with a chart of color, patterns and markings. Jan suggests
the office will begin to work on adding the colors and patterns to the certificate.
- Fees
Fee schedule will remain as they are presently. We will review all of the fees when the
policy book is updated and re-written.
- Screening Rules Review
Screening rules were discussed at length. We will get back to this topic when Karen Baum
has had a chance to review the Screening Report.
- ILR Report
Goal is to get the ILR Report in early August.
- Petition Committee
Sally Taylor will join Kathi McKinney on the Petition Committee.
Meeting adjourned at 6:10 PM MDT
Respectfully submitted,
Sally Taylor, Secretary
