ILR BOARD MINUTES
ILR
Board of Directors Conference October 21, 2003 12:04
PM EDT
The ILR Board of Directors teleconference meeting was called to
order at 12:04 AM, EDT, by President, Jack Moore. Present: Karen
Baum, Art Kennel, Jack Moore, Sally Rucker, Sally Taylor and Jan
Wassink, Registrar.
Motion: Sally Rucker. Approve minutes of September 17, 2003.
Second: Karen Baum. 4 Ayes.
The next teleconference meeting will be November 12, 2003, at
12 Noon EST.
1) Registrar’s Report: Jan reviewed the
financial reports for the past month and the year-to-date. Rob
Schrull is working with Cal and Marshall on the software update
and things are progressing nicely. We are still waiting for data
from ALSA for the reports on show awards that can be added to the
animal files.
2) Committee Reports:
a)
Petitions, Policies and Screening: There was lengthy
discussion on policies we could put in place to tighten the
screening requirements with such changes as screener training, new
forms and perhaps a final review by the Board of Directors. This
is an important issue and will be thoroughly reviewed before final
policy is made.
b) ILReport. The ILReport is in the final proofing and
layout stage. Jack stated how important Alan Schmautz is in this
process.
c) ILR Display. Jan will be using the refurbished ILR
display at the upcoming Gala Meeting.
d) Informational Brochures: Art reported that the “Facts
for New Owners” by Bill Franklin is in the final stages of
revision.
e) Advocacy. Sally Rucker gave a report on some preliminary
information regarding permanent identification that was discussed
at the recent meeting of USAHA.
f) Nominating Committee: Glen Pfefferkorn will be the chair
of the Nominating Committee. He asked to have the committee named
so their names could appear in the ILReport. Several names were
proposed and Jan will pass the names along to Glen.
3) Old Business:
a) Art will follow-up on contacts with other associations for
joint BOD calls.
b) Jan gave an update on “sub-registries”.
c) Karen reported that there have been confirmed cases of West
Nile Virus in Colorado. There are studies underway at Oregon State
University to study serology, to determine exposure to WNV as well
as response to vaccination, and to determine if some of the
unknown alpaca deaths were due to West Nile Virus. More
information can be found at www.alpacaresearchfoundation.org
4) New Business: Jan
presented several ideas for options to increase the income for
ILR. He will prepare spreadsheets for proposals to present to the
BOD at the next meeting.
Meeting adjourned at 3:40 PM, EDT.
Respectfully submitted,
Sally Taylor
Secretary
