Preserve accurate ownership records and support the integrity of your animal’s pedigree

Why Transfer?

  • When a lama is sold, transferring the registration in a timely manner ensures that accurate ownership dates are reflected for all breeding, showing, and awards programs. The Registry requires the signatures of the owner of the sire at the time of conception, and the owner of the dam both at the time of conception and at the birth of the cria. Not transferring an animal may result in confusion or difficulty in registering a cria.
  • The original registration certificate signed by the registered owner is required to complete a transfer of ownership. If the registration certificate has been lost, please fill out a lost document form. There is no additional fee for a lost document when it is processed with a transfer.
  • The ILR offers seller-paid transfers at a reduced rate, to encourage transfers at the time of the sale.
